Calvin Harris and Avicii take home awards at the Teen Choice Awards

The verdict is out! The teens have chosen Calvin Harris and Avicii as their favourite EDM artists at the annual Teen Choice Awards. While Calvin Harris won the “Choice Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Artist“, Avicii won the award for “Choice EDM Song” for Wake Me Up, from his album True.

The awards are based on a system of online voting where anyone can go online and cast their vote. This particularly represents the kind of popularity wave both the artists are currently riding on. Calvin Harris had a stellar 2013, with singles like I Need Your Love with Ellie Goulding and Under Control with Alesso and Hurts hitting the jackpot, while also releasing Summer in March this year, plus his upcoming studio album.

Avicii on the other hand, is still riding on the success of his debut studio album True. Singles like Wake Me Up, Hey Brother, Addicted To You and Lay Me Down opened up dance music to a wider and younger audience, while his collaboration with Coldplay for A Sky Full of Stars has been getting rave reviews since its release.
Winning big at the Teen Choice Awards, both the producers have shown how much of their music is being liked by teenagers, and how both of them could be the face of commercial dance music over the coming time.
