With the rising number of headlines about deaths and accidents at Dance music festivals and events, Electric Zoo had decided earlier this year to tighten security to prevent revisiting the horrors of last year. With a PSA campaign already launched, Electric Zoo has banned Camelbaks which has so far been an essential for all ravers.
While this decision has been met with an uproar by festival-goers who claim that the dangers of dehydration, sun stroke and hyperthermia outweigh those of the injection of ‘illicit materials’ into the festival, they have been advised by the management to use the plastic cups that will be provided free of cost at the festival. The consequence of this ban is yet to unravel and we can only wait to watch how many benefit from it and how many drop to the ground like lost wanderers in a desert. Although the intention of Made Events is a benevolent one, not many see the rationality of this ban.
